Alak es un caballito mecedora fabricado en madera curvada de líneas suaves y aerodinámicas, como las líneas generadas por el trazo ágil de su autor.
Si algo caracteriza el dibujo, el diseño de Silvino López Tovar, es precisamente eso, el gusto gestual por el trazo fluido.
Su identidad formal está íntimamente condicionada por el movimiento de su mano asociada a un instrumento algo olvidado hoy por los diseñadores de tendencia: el plumón de rénder.
Desde un punto de vista iconográfico, Alak es un objeto fácil, reconocible, familiar y agradable al gusto infantil. Un caballo para cabalgar mil aventuras imaginarias.
Clásico juguete en madera, material amable y cálido, construido a partir de técnicas amadas por todos aquellos que conocemos o intuímos el diseño como un sumatorio de tradición e innovación y que reconocemos inmediatamente en él la herencia de maestros como Charles y Ray Eames y su universo de objetos en plywood curvado, creado “ex novo” allá por los años cincuenta. Podríamos encontrarlo también conviviendo en armonía con los muebles e interiorismos de Carlo Molino otro gran maestro de las formas orgánicas del viejo continente…
Todas estas características hacen de Arak un objeto singular por su contemporaneidad extemporánea, dotado de un cierto aire retro que simultáneamente se convierte en una escultura, en una obra artística y en un sencillo balancín.
El diseño trasciende su vida útil de juguete y se inserta sin ningún problema como objeto decorativo en cualquier espacio.
En su fabricación se busca rescatar la mano de obra artesanal haciendo evolucionar el concepto de folklor mexicano hacia un nuevo diseño contemporáneo mexicano.

Alak is a rocking horse made from wooden carved into curves as
smooth and aerodynamic as the lines generated by the agile trace of
its author.
If anything characterizes the drawing, the design, by Silvino López
Tovar, is exactly that, the gestural taste for the fluid trace.
Its identity is intimately conditioned by the movement of his hand
associated to an instrument; something forgotten by today’s trend
designers: the rendering pen.
From an iconographic point of view, Alak is an easy, recognizable,
familiar and pleasing item to the childish taste: a horse to ride a
thousand imaginary adventures.
A classic wooden toy, a kind and warm material, made using
techniques loved by all of us who know or sense design as a sum of
tradition and innovation and that in it we recognize immediately the
heritage of the masters such as Charles and Ray Eames and their
universe of curved plywood pieces, created “ex novo” in the 1950s. We
may also find it living in harmony with the great furniture and interiors
of Carlo Molino, another great master of organic forms of the old
continent…
All these characteristics make Arak a unique object because of its
untimely contemporaneity, bestowed with a certain retro air that at the
same time makes it a sculpture, an artistic work and a simple rocking
horse.
The design transcends its useful life as a toy and easily becomes a
decorative object in any room.
Its manufacture seeks to rescue the artisanal labor by evolving the
concept of Mexican folklore towards a new contemporary Mexican
design.
It is made of sheet walnut with natural waxes and the saddle
upholstered with leather.
